This William S. Paley Television Festival seminar honors
24, a drama series about each hour in a day in the life of counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer, told in real time.
Paley Center television curator Ron Simon moderates the panel discussion, which features creator, writer, and executive producer Joel Surnow; writers and producers Michael Loceff and Howard Gordon; star and producer Kiefer Sutherland; and cast members Reiko Aylesworth, Carlos Bernard, Sarah Clarke, Michelle Forbes, Laura Harris, Dennis Haysbert, and Penny Johnson Jerald.
The panel discusses the creation of a new genre, how the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks affected the program, how the show's story arcs are written, and how Gordon's experience working on The X-Files and Loceff's scientific expertise contribute to the writing of the show. Cast members discuss how they were cast on the show, the chemistry between them, their perspectives on the characters they play, and the challenge of acting in "real time".
