Phyllis Bennis traces the rise of U.S. unilateralism and the doctrine of preemptive war, looking particularly at Iraq and Israel/Palestine, and examines both the potential and the challenges ahead in reclaiming the U.N. as part of the global peace movement.
Bennis is a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Studies of the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam. She is the author of Before and After: U.S. Foreign Policy and the September 11th Crisis and Calling the Shots: How Washington Dominates Today's U.N.
